Desk Inspiration

Siri Sofie Andreassen

upload.jpeg

As a full time student my desk space is pretty important. I spend a lot of time there both when working on school projects and with the blog. My desk here in Milan is a catastrophe hahah,  but ever since I moved into the apartment I'm living in now I've felt that it's only temporary. I'm moving out of here with my fav Swede as soon as the contract is over. Therefore it never seemed like a good use of time and money to fix up my desk space... but I'm really looking forward to when me and Mariem move into our own apartment where I can go all in with my crazy decoration plans! And I need to be prepared till then right ? Hopefully this little moodboard can inspire you to upgrade your work space too. It's so much easier to work in pretty and tidy surroundings!

4 ways to style the faux fur

Siri Sofie Andreassen

Even though we're quickly approaching spring temperatures here in Milan, I can't store away my faux furs quite yet. No matter if it's a vest that you wear over your favorite sweater or leather jacket during day or a coat used to look stylish and warm on those chilly spring nights, it makes you look like a million dollar in no time. Here you see four different ways to style the faux fur and if you want to take a closer look at one of the outfits you can simply click the image to get redirected to the original post.

Hope you're having an amazing Easter with your loved ones.

Milan Fashion Week FW16

Street style photography by Phil Oh and Asia Typek and Diego Zuko

Fashion Week is still on, now running it's final shows in Paris, but a little over a week ago this years Fall/Winter collections were shown here in Milan. I was quite surprised about how it was to be here under Fashion Week; Milan seemed completely deserted! Probably due to the bad weather.. I think the whole fashion elite spent more time in cabs than outside in the streets, and everyone important were at private parties and the ones who didn't probably pretended to be. I know The Sartorialist were outside Rinascente Tuesday before Fashion week kicked off but I had my exams that week so I had to stay put in my apartment to study.. Well maybe I'll have more luck next time! Anyway I've collected some of my favorite street style photos (above) and catwalk shows (under) for you here. Even though the streets of Milan lacked of people, there was no lack of inspiration!

Cimitero Monumentale

Jacket - Vero Moda / Vegan leather pants - Blank Denim / T-shirt and bag - COS / Boots - ACNE / Rings - H&M and Bjørg Jewellery

I know I haven't been updating much lately... I'm in the middle of my exam period and haven't really had the time to prioritize the blog - after all school comes first! I passed my LAB exam on Friday and I'm so happy to be finished. I have spent countless hours working on our hand-ins and right now nothing compares to the feeling I have knowing that I won't have to touch stucco paste within the closest future. If you're interested I might post a couple of photos of the result ?

As I told you earlier, I went to Cimitero Monumentale a couple of weeks ago with Mariem. It might seem a little weird when talking about a cemetery but I just love this place. It is insanely beautiful. An absolute must see if you're in Milan. Take a look at the pictures I took there last summer by clicking here.

Shadow play

Moodboard by Mariem Horchani

Today I slept inn and then I went to the IED lab where I spent the whole afternoon finishing up one of my exam projects. I had such a lazy weekend and it's so hard to start up again after a couple of days off... But my exams are quickly approaching so I better get back to work. I'm just happy we don't have any classes at the moment, so I have time both to study, do some blogging and work out.

Last weekend me and Mariem went out together to do a still life shoot at Cimitero Monumentale and took some cool outfit photos at the same time. Can't wait to show them to you later this week. Anyway I just wanted to show you this moodboard that Mariem did a little while ago for her personal journal. On a grey Monday like this I figured we could need some inspiration!

Siri Sofie Andreassen

Hi everyone! I'm back. The new year didn't really start out as I had planned.. After New Years Eve I had a couple of days at home with my family before coming back to Milan where I catched the flu upon arrival. I was struggling with pain in my lower back last year which is now starting to come back and school's been quite intense since I got here. Basically I've been shifting between working and laying in bed since I got here, without having the time to relax and get better and without having enough energy to do anything else than barely hanging up with all our school projects. To be honest I'm exhausted.. but luckily I've got good friends around me and our biggest projects are finished (even though I still have my oral exams now in February) so hopefully I'll be out of bed within a couple of days. All that's left to do is to sleep off my fever, eat ginger and try to treat my back, because as long as I'm like this I'm not able to keep up with everything.

Internet flourish with fancy new years resolutions and motivational color coordinated photos that goes with them, but I think I can count on one hand how many I've seen that does not concern workout and a healthier lifestyle.. Well it's great trying to become a healthier person, but I don't really think that jogging once a day and drinking juice is what's gonna make 2016 a great year. For me 2015 was quite hard to get through because of my back pain and all the stress I felt related to my baccalaureate, and I think that both for me and a lot of other people out there that the most important task we have this year is to get rid of the "super(wo)man syndrome". We need to take one step back, and get comfortable with the thought that we can't do everything - at least not all at once. I don't think anyone is neither productive nor happy burning themselves out on a million different projects at the same time instead of concentrating (and doing a good job) on one thing at a time. Focusing on what is important will result in a feeling of accomplishment and give you more time to do whatever makes you feel good. It's about not letting insignificant things wear you out and spending a little more time doing things that make you relax and enjoy yourself.

I've made a list of 10 things that make me relax and enjoy myself that I've hung up in my room. Nothing complicated, just a couple of things I can do in my everyday life that  makes me feel good. Most of it doesn't take a lot of time, is free and I usually find that it's easier to get back to work after giving myself a little "time out". It's all about changing some of the time I spend on stressing because I'm not doing anything productive ( yes I do that..) into something that gives me more energy.

I hope you'll take some time to think about what makes you relax, and that you're able to prioritize some of those things on a daily basis. To help you on the way I've taken a photo of my own list that might give you some ideas and you can even download my list as an pdf; printable and ready to be scribbled on!
